It was a great forum and I really enjoyed being able to speak to the large crowd that came to ask questions of candidates. It's a great way to actually hear what the taxpayers concernes are for the town. Thanks TRAC for the hard work to get it done.

R. McWilliams

Exactly my thoughts too...
Martin Kral, 08-10-2009, 07:48am

I almost wrote an email to Larry Loy to ask him "what were you thinking?" I could not believe what I read in this article either. Loy sounds very defensive to me also. By the way, Loy and company were the ones that got Hector Pineda removed, so it appears that we already had someone from TR running for judge. Stupid is as stupid does.

RPOA Accepted the City's Offer

Concerned Citizen
John Doe, 08-05-2009, 06:59am

It's sad that the city council doesn't realize why Roswell isn't getting the turn-out with applicants for the position of police officer. In any other state, in this economy, if a position on a police department opens up, there will be 100-300 applicants, here, there were what? 17? Albuquerque is recruiting from Roswell ranks, and they pay $3 an hour more to start as a new hire. Think about that when you say the officers here are over paid. But good luck Roswell.

Stimulus money is controlled
Martin Kral, 08-17-2009, 08:41pm

The stimulus money is only available for a shovel ready waterway project like the channel. There already is a program call MainStreet Roswell that is funded and supposed to be used to save our main streets. Unfortunately, the director of the program is sometimes misguided. There is $7500 this year for another study with a focus group and the public to figure out what can be done downtown. Keep in mind that when the UFO Museum moves to 8th and N Main, the area at Main and 2nd will eventually change.

Solved
Martin Kral, 08-17-2009, 07:22pm

The Museum (City) took the low bid and got what they paid for: air bubbles and bad encasements. One column and one engreved header had to be replace. The contractor was fired and one of the other contractors on the job was given the work..

Pick your expenses
Jeff Neria, 08-10-2009, 11:40pm

I go to the museum quite frequently, for all of the RAIR receptions and to take the many out of town guests that I host on the website couchsurfing.com. I have never had a problem or noticed anyone else's distaste for the channel. I think the entrance to the museum is quite attractive and the channel blends in nicely. I would rather see money go towards beautifying downtown near 2nd and Main where most visitors go and have to endure ugly, chintzy storefronts that are underwhelming to say the least.

Nice job
Toni, 08-21-2009, 01:15pm

Good story, Martin - interesting and educational! I'm glad that VCA used a building that was already in place for their school. It makes good use of an existing building and making good use of it saved VCA some money, as well. That's recycling at its best. Good for them!
